Man (72) is charged with assaulting female and possessing hurl as offensive weapon

A 72-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a female and possessing an offensive weapon – a hurl – with intent to commit assault.

Noel Francis Traynor, of Lough Road, Loughgiel, is accused of committing offences on October 12 this year.
He appeared in the dock at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday where a police officer said she believed she could connect the accused to the charges.

The defendant was given £500 bail with conditions including that he resides at an address in the nearby Kilraughts Road area and he is not to enter Lough Road or have any contact with the complainant or witnesses.
The case was adjourned to December.
