Man accused of having kitchen knife as offensive weapon is remanded in custody

A man accused of making a threat to kill a female and having an offensive weapon – a kitchen knife – with intent to commit assault occasioning actual bodily harm was remanded in custody at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday.

Denver Cardwell (34), with an address at Alexander Road in Limavady, is accused of committing offences on June 1 this year.

He is also charged with assaulting the female; damaging her mobile phone and being in possession of cannabis and Pregabalin.

Defence solicitor Keith Kyle said no application was being made for bail as no address was available at that stage.

The defendant was remanded in custody and the matter adjourned to July.
