A County Antrim man has been accused of throwing a pool ball and shouting verbal abuse at police and local residents during a July 12 parade this year.
Matthew William James McNeill (33), of Orby Drive in Liscolman near Ballymoney, was charged with ‘doing a provocative act’ with intent to provoke a breach of the peace or by which a breach of the peace or public disorder was likely to be occasioned. The accused appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday.
A prosecutor said an alleged incident was “captured on footage” during a band parade. The location of the alleged incident was not given in court.
District Judge Peter King noted there had been a police bail condition ordering the defendant not to be in the vicinity of any band parade. The judge released the defendant on £500 bail and said that with the “marching season” now passed he hoped the temptation for the defendant to attend parades was over.
The case was adjourned to mid-September.
