Man Arrested Following Drugs Seizure In Ballymoney

A man has been arrested following a drug seizure at a house in Townhead Street, Ballymoney earlier today (Tuesday 7th August).

Inspector Colin Shaw said: “Following intelligence provided by the local community, officers carried out a search at an address in the Townhead Street area of Ballymoney this morning.

“Around 50 cannabis plants, and a further quantity of cannabis were seized along with various other drug-related paraphernalia. A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession and cultivating cannabis, as well as being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, and is currently in police custody assisting with police enquiries.

“Tackling the illegal supply and use of drugs is a priority for police and seizures such as this demonstrate our ongoing commitment to tackling the scourge of drugs in our society. I would encourage anyone who has any information about the use or supply of illegal drugs to contact police on the non-emergency number 101 with any information they have. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
