A MAN who attempted to buy ‘Magic Mushrooms’ over the internet has been fined £250.

Packages including 53 grammes and 60 grammes of the mushrooms were seized on two dates last October at a Royal Mail logistics centre.

The defendant was not present at Coleraine Magistrates Court on March 23.

A defence solicitor said Kieran McConnell (22), of Dunhill Road, Coleraine, admitted attempting to possess Class A drugs – ‘Magic Mushrooms’ (Psilocin).

A charge of fraudulently importing Magic Mushrooms was withdrawn.

The court heard the defendant paid £55 online.

The court was told the defendant worked in McDonald’s which was to shut on the day of the court because of the coronavirus pandemic.
