Detectives from the PSNI Public Protection Branch have welcomed the conviction of a man, aged in his 30s for a number of historical serious sexual offences against an adult and a child under the age of 13 years old in the mid and east Antrim area.
At Antrim Crown Court on Wednesday 19th February, the man was sentenced to a total of 14 years, 7 years in prison and 7 years on licence. The male will also be on the sex offenders register for life.
Detective Inspector Leah Crothers said: “I welcome the fact this offender is behind bars and the extreme courage shown by the victims in coming forward. This outcome will hopefully encourage others who experience any form of sexual abuse to come forward and contact police. It also sends out a strong message to those involved in sexual abuse that we are determined to make them amenable for their crimes’’.
