Man Dies After Serious Road Traffic Collision

A man has died following a serious road traffic collision in the Quilly Road area of Coleraine. The incident happened around 6.45pm on Sunday evening.

A police spokesperson confirmed ‘ A male pedestrian in his 30s has died after being struck by a car on Quilly Road in Coleraine yesterday.’

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community, Maurice Bradley MLA said ‘Sad news that another life has been lost on the roads in the Coleraine area.

The circumstances of the fatality have not been released by the PSNI yet, but it is another sad house and family which have lost a loved one.

There are no words of comfort adequate at this sad time but I would extend my sincere sympathy to the victim’s immediate and extended family circle.’

Further commenting on the tragedy SDLP Councillor Stephanie Quigley said ‘This is just devastating news’

The Quilly road reopened around 5.45am this morning.
