A MAN who downed ten pints and was disorderly at Coleraine town centre on July 11 this year when he swore at and gave the ‘fingers’ to a group of teenagers has been jailed for a month.
Shaun Patrick Tracey (33), whose address was given as no fixed abode in Belfast, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday via video link from prison.
A prosecutor said police received a report of a man acting aggressively in the Church Street area where it was alleged he was being a nuisance and “getting in the faces of passers-by”.
During a police interview he denied he had cursed at anybody on the street.
Defence solicitor Andrew Kinney said Tracey, who has now pleaded guilty to being disorderly, accepted his behaviour was unacceptable.
The defence lawyer said the defendant had ten pints and that was the reason he couldn’t remember what happened.
