1 Mins read

UPON seeing police a man who was standing outside Mount Street Mews in Coleaine ran off but was caught and officers detected a strong smell of cannabis.

£20 worth of the drug was then found after the defendant was taken to Coleraine Police Station.

Shay Hill (21), of Athol Avenue in Coleraine, said he was addicted to the drug and would normally go through twice that amount in a day.

Defence solicitor Denise Gillan said her client was trying to tackle his issues.

At Coleraine Magistrates Court on November 25 the defendant was put on Probation for a year and has to participate in any programme designed to reduce his risk of reoffending.
