A MAN who had gone “off the rails” after drinking excessively during the pandemic has been given a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation for causing criminal damage to a window blind.

Ben Chauhan (18), of Tullans Park in Coleraine, committed the offence on August 10 this year.

He also admitted using a vehicle without insurance and had no licence in Coleraine in September.

The defendant was also given a one-month driving ban and fined £250.
