Man Is Accused Of Having A Pole As Offensive Weapon Whilst Allegedly Stealing £100 Worth Of Aftershave

A Portstewart man has been charged with aggravated burglary and theft by allegedly entering a dwelling at the town’s High Street and stealing £100 worth of aftershave whilst having a pole as an offensive weapon.

Brent Smith (22), of Whyns Crescent, is also charged with having cannabis on the same date – December 10 last year.
He appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on January 7 where a police officer said she believed she could connect the defendant to the charges.
The court heard the full file in the case is not due until the end of January.

The defendant was released on £500 bail with an 11pm-7am curfew; he is not to enter an area of Portstewart and he is to have no contact with alleged witnesses.
He is also not to be be in licensed premises and is not to be intoxicated in public.

The case was adjourned to February.
