Man made kill threat on social media on New Year’s Day

1 Mins read

A MAN who made a threat to a woman on social media on New Year’s Day that he would kill one of her family has been fined £300.

William Marcus Gault (31), of Ballygallin Park, Coleraine, appeared at the town’s Magistrates Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to making a threat to kill.

Defence solicitor Fergus McIntosh said the incident happened on social media and the defendant didn’t leave the house.

The lawyer said the defendant accepted he had “simply lost his temper” after the “red mist” came down and he regretted what he had done.

The solicitor said it had been a “knee jerk reaction” to members of the defendant’s family allegedly being “bullied”.
