Man thought he was insured to take wife’s vehicle to MOT centre

1 Mins read

A MAN caught driving without insurance near Ballymena claimed he was taking his wife’s vehicle for an MOT and thought he didn’t need cover in such circumstances.

Aleksander Cichy (57), of Hillview Park, Coleraine, came to police attention at Crankill Road on August 12 this year.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday he was sentenced on charges of using a vehicle without insurance and failing to produce a driving licence to police within seven days.

The defendant, whose defence solicitor was Andrew Kinney, was given six penalty points and fined £275.
