1 Mins read

A MAN who phoned his mother and said he was going to travel from Ballymena to Coleraine and break her windows and “slit her throat” had been ordered to do 125 hours of Community Service.

David John Gibson (34), with an address at Hill Street in Ballymena, was at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday for sentencing in connection with making a threat to kill and making a threat to damage property.

The incident happened on May 30 this year.

The court heard the defendant’s mother was left in fear by the comments.

Defence barrister Alan Stewart said the defendant accepted responsibility and wished to apologise.

Gibson was also given a two year order banning him from pestering, harassing or annoying his mother.
