Man treated for burns after shed fire spread to oil tanks and two semi-detached bungalows

A man in his 70’s is being treated for burns to his face, hands and legs and smoke inhalation following a shed fire which spread to oil tanks and two semi-detached bungalows on Saturday evening.

A woman in her 70’s is also in hospital being treated for smoke inhalation.

The incident happened on the Capecastle Road outside Ballycastle shortly after 6.30pm.

4 Fire Appliances attended the incident – Two from Ballycastle Fire Station and two from Ballymoney Fire Station.

Firefighters wore Breathing Apparatuses and used 5 jets to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition.
