Man unable to attend court after being hospitalised with ‘fractured ribs’

A man charged with assault slipped and fell and fractured his ribs meaning he was in hospital and unable to attend court on Monday September 2, his solicitor said.
Stephen Christopher Doey (51),of Garron Park in Portrush, faces two charges relating to April 18 this year.

The charges are that he caused grievous bodily harm to a male and he faces a second charge that he assaulted a male of the same name, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
At an earlier sitting of Coleraine Magistrates Court, defence solicitor Andrew Kinney asked for the case to be put back to September as the defendant was due to start a Community Addiction Service course.

The case has now been further adjourned to mid-October.
