“We can confirm that a planning application has been submitted for a new Drive-Thru restaurant in Coleraine. If approved, the restaurant would create 65 full and part-time jobs.”

The plans reveal the proposed site location based to the left of the entrance to Asda.

Speaking to Causeway Coast Community, Maurice Bradley said ‘Great news for Coleraine to see a second McDonald’s franchise in the area, creating jobs which in turn will help enhance the local economy.

The current traffic on Sandelford Bridge towards the existing McDonald’s should see an easement as patrons, especially coming from the seaside towns direction will be able to use the new facility if it gets Planning approval.

McDonald’s is a popular destination in Coleraine, particularly at the weekends and in the evenings.

It remains to be seen however, if an application is forthcoming, how our Planning Department at Causeway Coast and Glens will view the possibility of a new restaurant at ASDA.’
