Speaking after meeting officials from the Department for Economy, Sinn Féin Broadband spokesperson Philip McGuigan MLA said:
“A Sinn Féin delegation met with the Department for Economy today to get an update on the recently finished consultation on poor broadband speeds and Project Stratum.
“Over 11,000 responses were submitted to the Department to make them aware of areas and premises that have poor broadband speeds. This high number of responses shows just how important broadband is for people in the modern age. Unfortunately this constituency of North Antrim is the third worst area across the North and this is unacceptable to the many constituents who contact me. They need good Broadband to carry out their work, fill out forms online, do homework and for many other areas of modern living.
“Project stratum represents over £150m investment that will seek to address the deficit that exists in rural areas and is long overdue and I will continue to engage with the Department for Economy on this as it progresses.”
