Meet Motherwell’s number one supporter in Northern Ireland… who also happens to be a fanatical Coleraine fan too!
Gary McMullan, who follows the Bannsiders home and away every week, was once a season ticket holder at Fir Park.
From Burnfoot just outside Limavady, Gary still travels over every season with son Ross to watch Motherwell.
“I lived in Motherwell for nine years,” explained Gary.
“We have family still over there so we visit regularly and always take in a game.”
A Team Leader at Kerry DPP in Coleraine – he has been employed there for 15 years in two different spells – never did he imagine his two favourite teams would meet in the Europa League.
It’s a ‘win win’ scenario for Gary although his first love is the Bannsiders.
“Coleraine have definitely a chance. For long spells Glentoran pushed Motherwell all the way in the last round. They are bottom of the league and aren’t playing well.”
The worst thing about the tie next Thursday is he will have to watch it on television rather than be at the Showgrounds, with UEFA again ordering no fans be permitted to attend.
“It’s hugely disappointing but I’ve the night booked off work so I’ll be sitting at home with a beer watching it.”
