Local Sinn Féin Councillor Kieran Mulholland has welcomed the response from Transport NI to his engagement on serious potholes on the Altarichard Road.
Cllr. Mulholland said, “I had recently been in contact with Transport NI to urge them to take action on a serious pothole on the Altarichard Road which was causing major concern to road users on this stretch.”
“I am pleased inform locals that this pothole will be fixed within a maximum of 20 working days. This is a positive response and hopefully demonstrates that the concerns I raised recently on the time frame for which rural potholes are fixed is being addressed.”
“Rural road users are entitled to the same high quality service that those who reside in urban areas receive. There is a serious issue in that dangerous rural potholes have not been given the level of priority that they demand in terms of seriousness and indeed safety implications. Potholes at times cause more serious issues on rural roads given their nature than they do in urban areas and I believe that response times in rural areas have not been up to standard.”
“I will continue to lobby Transport NI to ensure that rural potholes are given the attention required within a reasonable time frame for the safety of all road users. I trust that the issues on the Altarichard Road at present will be addressed adequately within the time frame outlined.”
