Sinn Féin Councillor Dermot Nicholl has welcomed £900,000 investment to upgrade and replace the existing storm sewerage system in Main Street, Ballykelly.
Cllr Nicholl said:
“I have been in regular contact with NI Water regarding flooding issues on the Main Street in Ballykelly and very much welcome the £900,000 to upgrade and replace the existing storm sewerage system.
“The work is scheduled to begin June and be completed by late August 2019. This will involve the replacement of storm sewers and associated manholes.
“A lane closure will be in place on Main Street, with temporary traffic management arrangements in operation seven days a week, and extended works from 7am to 11pm while the work is underway.
“I would ask members of the public to be patient while this essential work is ongoing as it will significantly reduce the risk of sewer flooding and environmental pollution in the area.”
