A NIGHT shift railway worker caught speeding in the early hours of the morning has been given four penalty points and fined £120.
Gary O’Kane exceeded a 60mph limit at Drumcroon Road between Coleraine and Garvagh on July 5 this year.
At Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena on Friday, a prosecutor said police followed the defendant’s vehicle and noted a speed of around 80mph.
The defendant told police he thought was doing about 70mph.
Defence barrister Francis Rafferty said the defendant (40), of Gortscraheen Road, Pomeroy, had been working night shift and the road was clear at the time.
