Causeway Councillor Chris McCaw has encouraged people against non-essential travel to the North Coast, as measures continue to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Chris said, “I contacted Council earlier today to ask why the caravan parks are still open and to ask for their immediate closure. I am pleased that we are now closing all of our council facilities, with the exception of static caravans. Static caravan owners own their sites and have paid rates on them, but I would encourage people not to travel to them at this time.
We are entering into a potentially very important few weeks. Our behaviour now will decide the long term outcome of this pandemic. We all need to be doing everything we can to stop any potential spread of the virus in order to protect the most vulnerable. I hope people won’t mind me pointing out that the age profile on the North Coast tends to be slightly older as well.
Tourism is the lifeblood of the North Coast and I love to see people coming up to their caravans and second homes in our area. However we aren’t living in normal times at present. I would ask people to consider how their actions potentially affect other people at this time.”
