NORTHERN Ireland Hospice is calling on its supporters in Portrush to go the distance and make a difference to the lives of local people living with life-limiting illnesses by taking part in this year’s Portrush Whiterocks Beach & Coastal Path Walk to Dunluce Castle on Saturday 10th June.
The annual Hospice Walk campaign encourages people from across Northern Ireland to sign up to a walk in their local area and raise much needed funds to support the care of local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
The 2017 Hospice Walks will take place in 9 stunning locations across the province in April, May and June, with the additional option for supporters to hold their own walk events in their local areas or organisations.
The Portrush Whiterocks Beach & Coastal Path Walk to Dunluce Castle is one of the hospice’s newest and most popular walks with breathtaking coastal views. This year hospice is pleased to have Ground Espresso Bars kindly supporting this walk.
The charity, which cares for babies, children, teenagers and adults with life-limiting conditions, aims to raise £100k from walks across Northern Ireland to help continue to provide people here with the highest quality palliative care at home and in the hospice when they need it most.
Funds raised from this year’s campaign will help support hospice care in the community. Northern Ireland Hospice currently cares for over 90% of its patients in their own homes across the country.
Every pound raised will make a real difference says Joanna Pawson, Events Manager at Northern Ireland Hospice.
“Every donation really counts; for example sponsorship money of just £30 will pay for one hour of specialist nursing care for a patient at home. I’m appealing for as many people as possible to come and walk, have some fun with friends, family or work colleagues and raise money for Northern Ireland Hospice”.
To register for your local 2017 Hospice Walk, go to nihospice.org or call 028 9077 7123.
You can also choose to do a ‘DIY’ Walk, if one of the nine organized walks doesn’t suit. Choose your favourite walk location and do your own sponsored walk at a date and time that suits you.
This year’s walks are kindly sponsored by Creightons, Mauds, Rosemount Homes and Royal Mail/Penny Black Club.
