A man driving his mother’s vehicle with a space saver wheel said he was taking it to get a new tyre ahead of an MOT but he was on the road without insurance.
Conor Sharkey (30), of Glenshesk Road near Armoy, was detected at Islandarragh Road near Ballycastle on January 26 this year.
At Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday the defendant was given six penalty points and fined £200.
