Online exhibition featuring ‘100 Famous Sons and Daughters of the Causeway Coast and Glens’ now open

1 Mins read

An exhibition featuring ‘100 Famous Sons and Daughters of the Causeway Coast and Glens’ is now available to view online.

The list, selected from public nominations, is part of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s NI 100 programme marking the centenary of Northern Ireland.

Council’s NI 100 Working Group, supported by local historians, shortlisted 100 people who were born or lived within the Borough, and whose achievements over the last century are worthy of recognition.

The exhibition helps to tell a story about the people of our Borough while highlighting their contribution to the first 100 years of Northern Ireland.

The Mayor, Alderman Mark Fielding, said: “Celebrating our people is one of the key aims of our NI 100 programme and this online exhibition is an excellent showcase of the role played by the Borough in so many facets of life in Northern Ireland over the past century.

“It’s inspiring to see expertise on display from individuals connected to a range of sectors within our society including arts, culture, academia, entrepreneurship and sport. Collectively, we are very proud to recognise their actions, achievements and successes as part of our centenary programme.”

Among those on the list are Michelin Star chef Clare Smyth, potato-breeder John Clarke, fiddle-champion and landscape artist Tommy McGoldrick and Paralympian Sally Brown.
