Sinn Féin Local Government Candidate Leanne Peacock has called on vandals to “think of their community’ in the wake of the vandalism of dog bins in the area including at the Drumbolcan Walkway at the Play Park in Rasharkin village.
Miss Peacock said, “I am frequently out walking in the local area and came across the vandalism of the dog bins on the Walkway at Drumbolcan, they are completely missing leaving dog walkers with nowhere to dispose of their dog’s waste.
This leaves dog waste around the area which is an obvious hazard to walkers and children in particular who frequent the area.
I would encourage local parents to talk to their children about the impact of vandalism and those responsible to have a long hard think about the possible impact of their actions on local people and children and the impact that such actions can have on access to services in the local area. I have requested that Council replace these vandalised dog bins ASAP and they have assured me that they will be replaced.
I also welcome the provision of 3 additional dog bins in the village following my request in January.”
