Local Sinn Féin representative Leanne Peacock has welcomed the decision of Causeway Coast and Glens Council to open the gate at Drumbolcan Park in Rasharkin to allow parents and service users to use car parking facilities at the site when using the Play Park and Walkway.
Miss Peacock said, “I have been lobbying Causeway Coast and Glens Council for many years now to get the gate at the Park open so that service users of the Play Park facilities and walkway at the site in Rasharkin can use the excellent parking facilities available.”
“It is scandalous that parents and service users had to park on the roadside and walk down into the site where there were ample parking spaces in order to use the facilities due to the fact that Council refused to have the gate opened daily.”
“This posed serious safety implications for parents and children in particular and I raised this with Council many many times over the past months and years. I am extremely pleased that as a result of this Council has decided to open the gate to allow use of the parking facilities for these service users. Both summer and winter opening times will be posted at the gate very soon.”
