Plans are being drawn up for the Pope and the Queen to visit Northern Ireland TOGETHER next summer. The precise location is being kept under wraps.

Pope Francis is already scheduled to visit the Republic in 2018 for the World Meeting of Families.

Q Radio can reveal that not only will the Head of the Catholic church travel north but he will appear in public with the head of the Anglican Church.

Causeway Coast Community also understands there is the possibility of additional royal visits next year with Armed Forces Day in Coleraine in June with plans for a Parade through the streets of Coleraine, an Armed Forces Street Party at the Market Yard with musical entertainment and Armed forces exhibits.

An RAF themed event for Airwaves Portrush is also in the pipeworks which could potentially see a royal visit.

Pope Francis is the 266th and current Pope of the Catholic Church, a title he holds ex officio as Bishop of Rome, and sovereign of Vatican City. He chose Francis as his papal name in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi.

Elizabeth II has been Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand since 6 February 1952.
