Please use Portballintrae Harbour responsibly – McCaw

Alliance Causeway Councillor Chris McCaw has urged visitors to Portballintrae Harbour to stay safe and remember it is a working harbour.

Councillor McCaw said “It is great to see visitors returning to our area and life adjusting to the “new normal” as lockdown measures are eased. However, we are still in the middle of a pandemic and people must be mindful of social distancing advice.

I am also concerned about reports of swimmers in the Harbour not making way for boats. I would ask people to swim safely and to make sure children are supervised when using the harbour. The sea can be a dangerous place. I will be working with Council to find ways to ensure people have a safe place to swim in the area.

As more people are choosing to “staycation” on the North Coast this summer, it is important that we continue to look out for each other and stay safe.”
