Police Appeal For Information Following Sexual Assault In Coleraine

Detectives from the PSNI’s Public Protection Branch are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault at the Bushmills Road area of Coleraine in the early hours of Saturday 22nd September.

Detective Sergeant Olphert said: “Sometime between 4am and 5am, it was reported that a female was sexually assaulted in the area.

“Two males aged 29 years old and 21 years old were arrested as part of the investigation. Both men are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

“We are appealing to anyone with any information or who witnessed anything suspicious in the Long Commons, Brook Street, Railway Road and Bushmills Roads areas at the time of the incident to contact police. Motorists who may have been travelling in the area who have dash-cam footage available should contact police quoting reference number 1321 23/9/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
