Police received a report of people gathered at licenced premises in the Glebe Road area of Castlerock on Thursday 28th May.

A spokesperson said “Police attended and a number of people were present at the time. Police spoke to staff around potential breaches of both the Licencing (NI) Order 1996 and also the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) Regulations NI 2020.

Appropriate guidance was given to staff at the time.

Police received a further report at the premises regarding people gathered in the area on Friday 29th May. Officers attended and no one was present at the time.”

The spokesperson continued “If the appropriate licence is in place, there is provision within the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) Regulations NI 2020 for Public Houses to offer food or drink for consumption off the premises.

Police would ask everyone to continue to adhere to the NI Executive guidance during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
