Police can confirm that a man, aged in his 70’s, has died following a one vehicle road traffic collision at Curragh Road in Coleraine on Tuesday 7th March.

The man died at the scene after the Landrover jeep he was driving was in collision with a tree shortly after 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Inspector Purvis has asked anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information which could assist the police investigation to contact officers at the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 753 07/03/17. The road remains closed at this time.

Speaking to the family Councillor William McCandless said “I am truly sorry to hear of this tragic accident which has occurred and the devastation it is causing to your family. Death is a painful and tragic affair to happen in any family and I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the family circle.
Death is a painful experience for any family when anticipated but much more grievous when unexpected.”
