Police in Coleraine received a report of two teenagers being assaulted in the East Strand area of Portrush on Tuesday 25 July at around 6.45pm.
Sergeant Phil Graham said: “A 15 year old boy was struck in the face by a glass bottle and suffered facial injuries as a result. His glasses were broken in the incident and he also suffered cuts to his knee. He was treated at the scene for his injuries.
“A second boy, also aged 15, was taken to hospital where he received stitches for two gashes to the back of his head, which we believe were inflicted by a youth with a glass bottle.
“Our understanding is that a number of youths were involved in these two assaults including one male described as being around 16 years old, 6’ 3” in height, of lean build with short light brown hair and wearing a black tee-shirt, shorts and trainers.
“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed either of the incidents, saw this young man or a group of young people in the East Strand area.
“We also believe the suspects may have left the area in a silver VW Golf around the same time and we would also like anyone who saw it in the vicinity in or around 7pm last Tuesday night to get in contact with police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1221 of 25/7/17.
“Alternatively, information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
