Police find motorist with bottle of brandy in car following ‘veering’ incident

BT Coleraine

POLICE on patrol in the Temple Road near Garvagh on the night of February 4 this year saw a vehicle veering from side to side and when they spoke to the driver there was a smell of liquor and a bottle of brandy was on the passenger seat.

Caroline Bradley (65), of Tirkeeran Road, Garvagh, was at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday and admitted charges of driving whilst unfit and failing to provide a specimen of breath.

A defence lawyer said the defendant had a previously clear record.

The court was told the defendant’s husband died last year and she had been finding it “very difficult” to cope but has sought help from her GP.

The lawyer said the defendant wished to apologise.

The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £400.
