Police Investigate Sudden Death In Ballymena

Police are investigating the death of a man in Ballymena. It is understood he died at the Simon Community premises on Henry Street on Saturday but details have only just emerged.

In a statement a spokesperson told Causeway Coast Community “Simon Community NI are saddened to confirm the passing of a client at our Ballymena service. Due to confidentiality, we are unable to discuss individual cases but are working with authorities and the family to sensitively respond to the matter.”

Causeway Coast Community also understands that a second person at the same premises is in a serious condition in hospital. A spokesperson continued “In a separate and unrelated occurrence, we requested the support of emergency services.”

A spokesperson for The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said ” We received a 999 call at 16:30 on Saturday 18 August 2018 following reports of an incident at an address on Henry Street, Ballymena.

NIAS despatched two Emergency Ambulance crews to the incident.

Following assessment and treatment at the scene, one patient was transported to Antrim Area Hospital.”
