POLICE searching for a man found him hiding under items in an attic and he then allegedly assaulted an officer.
Chris Wilton (34), of Dullaghy Road, Kilrea, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on April 1.
He is charged with assaulting and resisting a police officer and attempting to damage a window of a police vehicle on March 29.
A police officer told the court the PSNI had been looking for Wilton and he was found in an attic and when an attempt was made to arrest him on foot of a warrant he allegedly “fought” with police, assaulting an officer.
The court was told the defendant then used handcuffs to strike the windows of a police vehicle.
A defence solicitor said Wilton was aware there were a number of bench warrants outstanding for some time but that the father-of-four didn’t want to be parted from his children.
District Judge Peter King refused bail saying Wilton had a bed record and had been sought by police for some time.
