POLICE saw a “topless” man asleep with the “ignition on” in a vehicle which was parked at Union Street in Ballymoney.

John Vennard (52), of The Forge, Union Street, Ballymoney, admits being in charge of a vehicle whilst having excess alcohol in breath.

Defence barrister Michael Smyth said whilst it is a guilty plea the issue in the case was the “likelihood of driving”.

The barrister said the defendant came to police attention in “the middle of the night” on October 14 this year.

He said arrangements had been made “for a collection which didn’t take place”.

At Coleraine Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena on Monday, the case was adjourned to December.
