Police have issued a warning over Social Media following reports of youths in the Dhu Varren area of Portrush throwing stones at cars from the railway tracks.

A PSNI Spokesperson said : “We have received reports of youths throwing stones from the railway tracks at Dhu Varren train stop. Several cars have been damaged as a result. Not only is this a criminal offence but anyone on the train line is putting themselves in tremendous danger.

“A train can’t swerve to avoid you and anyone on the tracks is putting themselves and the lives of other rail users at severe risk without thinking of the consequences of their actions.

“Please stay off the tracks.”
