A PORTRUSH teenager has been fined £250 after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine and cannabis.
Jamie Mitchell, of Glenmanus Park, appeared before Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday June 17.
The court heard how police on mobile patrol in Portrush had stopped 18-year-old Mitchell on May 25 this year. During a conversation officers detected “a faint smell of cannabis.”
A black tub containing herbal cannabis was seized, along with a bag of white powder, and Mitchell was arrested.
He made full admissions and said the drugs were for his personal use.
Mitchell, who represented himself in court, said he had nothing to say.
District Judge Peter King warned Mitchell: “The next time you are back for drug offending, it won’t be a fine.”
