PSNI welcome firearm related sentencing

Detectives in Causeway Coast and Glens have welcomed the sentencing of two men in relation to the recovery of a firearm in Limavady in October 2018.

Detective Inspector Pete McKenna said: “We recognise the fear incidents involving firearms can have, especially in smaller communities and welcome the custodial sentences handed down today at Antrim Crown Court.”

Twenty-eight year old Iustinian Pelin received a 30 month sentence, half of which will be on licence, after pleading guilty to possession of a handgun with no certificate. He was also sentenced to 14 months and 12 months concurrently for two offences of possession of ammunition without a certificate.

Floren Lungo, who is 34 years old, received an eight month sentence for assisting an offender and a 6 month concurrent sentence for each of the following offences; possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances and possession of ammunition in suspicious circumstances.
