Millions of golfers around the world will see stunning images of Northern Ireland, when they tune in later this month to watch highlights of the recent Northern Ireland Open golf tournament at Galgorm Castle.
Tourism Ireland arranged for one of the players in the NI Open, Chris Mivis from Belgium, to take a break from practice to travel to Ballycastle, where a crew from European Tour Productions filmed him enjoying some of the scenery for which the Causeway Coastal Route is renowned. The one-hour programme will air on satellite TV stations across Europe, the US, Australia, the Middle East and South Africa.
The programme is another excellent opportunity to build on Tourism Ireland’s ‘Home of Champions’ campaign – reminding golfers across the world, especially in the US, about our fantastic golf courses where our champions, including Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and Pádraig Harrington, have honed and perfected their skills.
Aubrey Irwin, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Northern Ireland, said: “We were delighted that Chris Mivis could take a break from the NI Open to travel to the Causeway Coast and see for himself why the area is such a popular place to visit. We’re always keen to showcase the world-class golf on offer here to as wide an audience as possible of potential golf holidaymakers. We’re also taking every opportunity to highlight the 148th Open, which is set to take place at Royal Portrush in 2019. Our message is that Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland offer international golfers the complete package – with some of the very best golf in the world, stunning scenery and the warmest of welcomes.”
