Residents in the Coleraine area can now complete an application for Housing Benefit online.

For those who do not have internet access at home, the Housing Executive has put a work station in its Coleraine office (19 Abbey Street) which can be used by potential claimants to fill out the form online.

An application for Housing Benefit can also be completed at home, on a smartphone or wherever there is free public access to the internet. It is available 24/7 and will speed up the whole application process.

This new online application service has an intuitive form taking applicants through to the applicable sections based on the information they provide.

Any additional evidence required can also be added online by the applicant and landlords are able to provide a Certificate of Occupation online too.

The area’s Housing Benefit Manager, Kieron Murphy, said:

“We are delighted with this new service for customers in Coleraine. Having a PC located in the office will enable those without internet access, or a device on which to access it, enormously.

“It will help us speed up the processing of Housing Benefit applications and members of our staff are on hand to help if necessary.”

A person may qualify for Housing Benefit if they live in Northern Ireland; are on a low income or claim benefits; and pay rent and/or rates.

Completing an application online can be done from anywhere a person has internet access. It is available 24/7, simple to complete and will speed up the whole application process for the claimant, Housing Executive and landlords.

The online form can be accessed at: https://www.nihe.gov.uk/index/benefits/housingbenefit/apply_for_housing_benefit.htm
