Martin McGuinness has been posthumously awarded by the City of San Francisco for his “courageous service in the military”.

The certificate of honour was issued by San Francisco on Friday and is the American equivalent of the freedom of the city.

Commenting on social media Councillor Darryl Wilson said “This repulsive commendation is an insult to victims of terrorism not only here in Northern Ireland but across the free world”

The City and County Of San Francisco in the USA, led by their Mayor have honoured Martin McGuinness.

The Mayor highlights Martin’s courageous “service in the Military”.

Perhaps Mr Bin Laden will be honoured next for his “services to aviation”.

This repulsive commendation is an insult to victims of terrorism not only here in Northern Ireland but across the free world where the United States should be leading by example, after all they have had their fair share of murder and destruction at the hands of terrorists.’
