Serious Incident – Whitepark Road – Ballycastle

The scene at Whitepark Road Ballycastle where a chip Pan fire started in the kitchen of the house. A female in the property is belived to have taken a severe asmatic attack, the NIAS Police and Air Ambulace were in attendance. A 27 year has died who is understood to be 4 months pregnant. A woman has died at a house in the Whitepark Road area of Ballycastle this evening. It is understood the victim is in her late 20’s.

The air ambulance is in attendance along with 2 fire appliances from Ballycastle. The cause of the death is not yet known. It is understood the woman was 4 months pregnant.

Ballycastle Independent Councillor Padraig McShane said the local community was stunned and numb with grief.

“It would appear that a number of unfortunate factors have conspired to end this young lady’s life. The detail of the tragedy will be revealed in the fullness of time but at present, on behalf of the local community, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.”

A police spokesperson said “Police attended the scene of a sudden death of a woman in her 20s in the Whitepark Road area of Ballycastle this evening, Tuesday 3 October. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
