Councillor Darryl Wilson said this morning in a social media status

“Unfortunately the decision to acquire and refurbish Edward Street Social Centre has been subject to a call in / legal challenge by Sinn Fein and the SDLP, which will delay and potentially destroy progress on the issue.

My proposal was successfully backed by a majority at last months full council meeting, yet some choose to ignore the democratic process by throwing the toys out of the pram when they are on the wrong side of a decision.
So much for the democratic process!!

Cllr Ian Stevenson , Cllr Richard Holmes and I fought vigorously for not only the social centre, but also the Evergreen Club, Gateway Club and all other local groups/people that use the facilities, and we will continue to do so in the coming weeks as we face yet another battle…”
