A man stole Rustler’s burgers, chicken, sandwiches and vodka from a supermarket may have been getting ready for “lunch, dinner and possibly an aperitif” according to his solicitor.
Piotr Faferek (37), of Long Commons, Coleraine, stole from Tesco in the town on May 22 last year and then resisted a police officer when he had to be “put on the floor” to enable handcuffs to be applied.
On Monday, Coleraine Magistrates Court heard the defendant had been “very drunk”.
The defendant admitted charges of theft and resisting police.
The defence solicitor said her client could not remember the incident in which items to the amount of £32.50 were stolen.
The defendant was fined £300 and ordered to pay £32.50 compensation for the goods which had not been fit for re-sale.
