Sinn Féin councillor Brenda Chivers has welcomed the commitment from the Department for Infrastructure to repaint the vandalised roundabout outside Limavady.

Cllr. Chivers said “I have recieved confirmation from DFI that a contractor has been selected to repaint the chevrons on the roundabout.”

“The work should be completed by 10th August and I hope when this is done that unionist leaders and elected representatives use their influence to ensure this does not occur again.”

“Over the months since this and other vandalism has been carried out I and party colleagues have met with all the relevant agencies and I am pleased some responsibility has been taken.”

She added “local people are rightly angry at how long this has taken and the negative impression it gives of the town. The actions of a few and threat of violence cannot be allowed to intimidate the majority of people in the town.
