Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has said concerns about DUP Minister Paul Givan’s community hall grants scheme are another example of the DUP operating for one section of the community and not for all citizens.

Mr.McGuigan said:

“I had raised concerns when this scheme opened that it had the potential to be skewed towards one section of the community. Unfortunately from the list of recipients it seems clear that that has been the case.

“I had facilitated a number of meetings in North Antrim throughout the application process to try and ensure that applicants from right across the community could benefit from the scheme. I am very disappointed to see that in North Antrim that clearly wasn’t of interest to Paul Givan.”

“The allocation of these funds is another example of blatant discrimination and the DUP’s contempt for the wider public. It further undermines public confidence in the political institutions.”
