Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has said that the death of Martin McGuinness has caused “great sadness to many many people across the island of Ireland and beyond.”

The North Antrim MLA continued:

“The contribution Martin McGuinness made to changing society here in the North is immense and his legacy will be immeasurable. There is a genuine outpouring of grief across the community with messages of sadness sand condolences coming through to my office non stop this morning. To allow people to come together and show their respect for Martin and to support his family there will be a candlelight vigil on Wednesday evening in Dunloy at 8pm. We will also be placing a book of condolences in the office for people to come along and sign.”
